Any good weather group and weather nerds will always have a discussion about hurricane Beryl of June to July of 2024 and likely analyze it's strength, path and damage outcome of property and lives lost.

Beryl started out in the deep Atlantic coming off of the Cape Verde islands off of the mid coast of Africa.  Within less than 43 hours strengthened to a Category 5 hurricane before it tracked across the lesser Antilles Islands at a Cat 4.  Beryl remained a Cat 4 as it barrelled it's way across the Caribbean sea which is best known as a hurricane graveyard, however, not for Beryl.  Beryl maintained it's strength, as the eye passed the south side of Jamaica, pummeled the Grand Cayman's and moved forward towards Cancun and Cozumel of the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico.  Beryl struck the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula as a Cat 3 storm.  After passing Mexico, and basically being shredded by the Sierra Dust and wind shear, Beryl is now reforming and expected to hit the Texas coast near Houston as a Cat 1 storm, about 85 mph winds and storm surge as much as 15 feet in some areas.

Beryl's story is still being written for coastline inundation and inland inundation that will follow up through Austin towards Dallas and take a more severe eastern course.

Praying for safety for our Texas friends.

Hurricane season is in full swing early. Beryl has traversed the Atlantic at both a Cat 4 and Cat 5, hammered the Antilles Islands, Jamaica, The Cayman Islands, the Yucatan Peninsula, survived the Caribbean basin, which is usually a hurricane graveyard and has now reached the Texas coast where it is now on a north eastern track through Texas. There's a lot of people without power now and has continued to be a life threatening storm. Wishing everyone safety with this storm.
