Otis pounded Acapulco with winds of 165 miles per hour (266 km per hour) early on Wednesday, flooding the city, tearing roofs from homes, stores and hotels, submerging vehicles, and severing communications as well as road and air connections.

The government, which has so far released little information about dead and injured, had previously reported 27 people had died and that four others were missing due to Otis.

This humanitarian tragedy should be in the news today, next week and for many that should continued to be informed of the magnitude of this storm and updates of the Mexican governments efforts to handle the damage of this magnitude. Mexico does not have FEMA like the United States. They are also not prepared for the extreme amount of clean up required for damage that appears as if this small coastal city was bombed. Cleaning up mud in the streets is a huge, problem, buildings are extremely damaged, people have perished in this storm and people are displaced from their homes. There's mayhem in the streets, food shortages and business like grocery stores destroyed. I think the toll of damage and loss of life will continue to climb as the government and
services begin their clean up process. Wishing Acapulco strength and healing during this difficult and unprecedented time due to a mega storm called Otis.
