If you haven't figured it out from all the animal pictures I post, which are usually of my dogs, then you should know that I love dogs, cats, people pets and all animals, and I would advocate for their safety and care both domestic and wild animals too.
I have had the breed Pomeranian's in my life since about 2007. I love all of the dogs from the Spitz family of dogs that include Chow Chow's, Akita's, Huskies, Alaskan Malamute, American Eskimo Dog, Samoyed's' and so many more. The link below is a beautiful introductory page of the Spitz breeds from the American Kennel Club website.
My first Pom family of dogs have all passed now, RIP, my beloved, Isabella, Chella, and Champy Bear. When the last of this litter family passed, my sweet Isabella, my heart was broken, and I really didn't feel like I could have another dog in my life. Months passed and my husband felt that my decision to not have pets in my life was rather contradictory to my nature that I really needed to reassess and consider finding a puppy again to enrich our household. Animals, by their sweet nature, calm us when we need that moment the most, because they are sweet and loyal and stand by us and want to be near us all the time. I carefully considered bringing another animal in the home but wasn’t sure if I had the mental bandwidth to rear another puppy as I was still grieving.
Curiously, I went to the internet and started searching for pom puppies. I found an abundant number of pet breeder choices, but most of the private breeders required a substantial drive. By chance, I located a private breeder that had a local shop. My daughter and I went to the shop and learned that they have some pom puppies available. We scheduled an appointment to see them the next day.
If you are thinking that there are so many dogs in animal shelters that need homes rather then going to a breeder, I understand and respect your opinion, and agree that there are many wonderful dogs deserving a loving home. For me, at this time in my life, my grief was so great for the loss of my last dog, Isabella, that I wanted another Pom as much like her as possible.
Our appointment at the pet store, was early in the morning. My daughter, her boyfriend and I went with anticipation to see these new puppies. While we waited at the store for them to be brought out, we learned that both were boys and brothers. Do you see the problem already with my decision to buy one puppy? How could I split up brothers? The pom brothers were brought out to meet us. They were dressed in really cute dog clothes and were both under two pounds.
*This concludes the first entry on my experience and I will detail our puppy experience at the store in my next installment.
