NOAA's Hurricane Season Predictions for 2022

As a novice weather geek, I've always noted the difference in hurricane seasons relative to the La Nina and El Nino patterns. Currently we are in a La Nina pattern, now a verified Triple-Dip La Nina pattern, which allows less blocking of wind shear. In a El Nino pattern, there's more wind shear and hurricanes have less of a chance to form or become catastrophic in an environment with a lot of wind shear that pushes back at the storm. I'm a little perplexed at exactly how our hurricane season will turn out because of this upper level high we are in, as this has been a pretty silent hurricane season up until now.

Do you live in an area affected by hurricanes? Have you experienced personally a hurricane event? How do you personally prepare for incoming storms and hurricanes?

Well, Texas is going to experience an odd weather event day, today. We have hurricane remnants from Roslyn coming in a North East fashion from Mexico to cross over Texas, along with low pressure system colliding with The Gulf of Mexico moisture. Some areas of Texas are under severe warnings, some on watches today. All weather possible.

The 2022 Hurricane season has thankfully, been not as severe on the Atlantic side, though, as they say, it takes just one hurricane to cause a significant amount of damage to property and personal human loss, which is such a tragedy. like hurricane Ian that slammed into Florida's west coast at a Cat 4. Today, is just one of those funny weather days, that can just be as benign, or if these weather systems clash at just the right time, then severe weather break outs can be very tragic with all forms of weather.

Lost power for an hour yesterday, and totally lost internet for 24 hours due to the storms that blew through Texas yesterday. Finally have internet back and thankfully I had a hotspot to use to get by until our internet was restored.

In our area, we had tree damage and around the corner downed power lines. The downed power lines, were surprising because we've been through far more severe storms. This particularly road, however, is a beautiful road with almost a half of a mile or so of a tree canopy and the power lines run through the trees. When you drive on it, it's a nice experience and this is one of the only two roads to get in and out of our neighborhood.

I hope everyone's property did okay through this storm and since it's moving eastward to our other southern states, hopefully, it the storm system will be less impressive and move back out into the Gulf of Mexico.

Florida is expecting Hurricane Nicole tracking to the east side of Florida today. Nicole is expected to strengthen to a Cat 1 hurricane at landfall early Thursday morning.

The Atlantic hurricane season has been rather quiet this year, with exception of hurricane Ian that ravaged the east Florida coast.

Staying hopeful, that Nicole will stay tame, and damage will not be significant.

Latest forecast and track map as Nicole spins toward Florida

Just over a month after Hurricane Ian’s devastation in Florida, the state is again bracing for landfall from a hurricane — this time for an unusual November strike that prompted a hurricane warning along the central part of Florida’s east coast Tuesday. Tropical Storm Nicole continued to strengthen as it swirled across the western Atlantic from Tuesday to Wednesday, and AccuWeather meteorologists said the massive storm will make landfall as a Category 1 hurricane along Florida’s east coast early Thursday morning.

I have several friends in Florida.  I hope this hurricane will not create too much disruption and destruction at the east coast.

Atlantic hurricane season ends with 14 named storms

An Atlantic hurricane season that had 14 named storms officially ended on Wednesday, leaving residents in the Florida Keys to celebrate even as others around Florida and Puerto Rico continue to grapple with the damage caused by Hurricanes Ian, Nicole and Fiona.

The2022 season had an unusually calm first half but made up for that with the three destructive hurricanes in the second half, ending with an average number of named storms. The season runs from June 1 until Nov. 30.

Overall, a mild hurricane season in number, except for a few devastating storms.
