So, I know we have enough doom and gloom and really don't need to have another thing to worry about, however, I'm fascinated by how our earth works and that includes volcanoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, tornadoes, severe weather events, well just any part of science that's meteorological, geological or archeological. I find it fascinating.... hear Spock say "fascinating".

The greatest menaces to the Malacca Strait, which separates the Malay Peninsula from the Indonesian island of Sumatra, lie in the natural world. Of the many intriguing maps of activity in the region, the most arresting is the one that collates the world's active volcanoes and recent earthquakes.Along the coast of Sumatra and the more southerly part of Java, following the course of the Sunda Trench, is a band of earthquake activity, and several volcanoes.

The Malacca Strait is located in the Ring of Fire, which is the ring of volcanoes that follow a path from as far south as New Zealand in the Pacific, to the North toward Alaska, and follows a line on the United States western coast line southward towards Mexico. Numerous volcanoes follow this line, with a subsequent history of mild to severe know earthquake history.
