An American Bar Association panel voted Friday to drop a requirement that law school applicants take the LSAT or another standardized admissions test, amid debate about whether the tests help or hurt diversity in admissions.
Since my Junior High years, I was dead-set on going into some form of law enforcement. The FBI was my first choice, then varied law enforcement, local judge and then I decided I would become a lawyer. I knew there was the LSAT that was a defining test requirement that would determine my eligibility for law school. Even in my high school business law class, my teacher new how much I wanted to become a lawyer and chose me as one of the two prosecuting lawyers in a mock trial for this class. This mock trail was superseded by students actually committing a mock crime in school, getting caught and arrested. It was a fascinating experience. My life had all changed, those many years ago. I did not go into any sort of law enforcement though. I'm still very fascinated by criminal psychology and criminal law. I'm not sure how I feel about the removal of the LSAT requirement? I always thought it was a right of passage to become a lawyer. How do you feel about this test not being a requirement?
