I had a 1974 Ford Mustang; yellow with green vinyl top. I wish I still had it. It was a great car. I love muscle cars and race cars. Ford is debuting their new Mustang. Nice!

Ford is keeping the Mustang gas-powered.

So why did Ford stick with gas engines for the new vehicle? Farley said, essentially, because it could … and because it makes good business sense for the foreseeable future. The Ford Mustang could be in a segment all by itself in the coming years, forcing those who still thirst for an American coupe muscle car to come to the brand. That includes non-U.S. customers, who represent about 20% of Mustang’s sales. “People are leaving the segment, like Dodge, so we have a chance to really present something new about Mustang,” Farley said following the 2024 Mustang debut. “This is going to give us a big advantage because a lot of people still love this kind of car.” While the American muscle car segment has dwindled from what it once was, there’s still demand for the vehicles, which also can attract attention and new customers for their respective brands.

I'm really glad to see Ford is distinguishing their brand and paving their way with their own innovation and foreseeing the market's possibilities and demands still for a gas-powered Mustang for future generations.

Ok now... Mustang has always been my dream car. But, if they don't go electric I will never get one.

I have a feeling Ford is not 100% and likely will waver in a few years once EV becomes more established. Maybe there's still hope, TJ. ;)

Ford Confirms “There's No Hybrid Mustang”

I'm adding this link, because there's some substantial information about Ford's decision to not produce certain model's and perhaps some insider information on Dodge Challenger and Charger along with the Chevrolet Camaro's demise with possible insider information.

There are, however, a few more reasons for the hybrid Mustang’s cancellation. Similar to General Motors and Stellantis, the Blue Oval’s pony car isn’t selling particularly well. But more importantly, the seventh-generation Mustang that’s due to arrive next year for the 2024 model year doesn’t need hybrid assistance because the Camaro is on the chopping block, the Challenger is going away, and the Charger is going fully electric. There are unverified reports of next-generation Challenger and Charger muscle cars, with the V8 expected to be reserved only for the Hellcats.

What is Chevrolet going to do to the Camaro?

Lower down the spectrum, the Challenger and Charger are rumored to feature a turbo straight-six engine, purely ICE or with hybrid assistance. As for the Camaro, rumor has it that General Motors will repurpose this nameplate for an electric sedan.

    Ford discontinuing the following-

In related news, Ford has discontinued the Shelby GT500 for the 2023 model year, most likely to redirect Predator V8 production to the F-150 Raptor R

    2024 Ford Mustang's 5.0L V-8 Gets a Big Power Bump

The reworked Coyote V-8 makes 500 horsepower in the top Dark Horse model, while the 2.3-liter Eco Boost four-cylinder now makes 315 hp and 350 pound-feet of torque.

Looks like Ford is digging in on more power for their Mustang?
