Many of us are creative. Here’s a thread (pun intended - see next) to provide amusement - either with crafting or laughing at it.
Many people turn to the Loom in search of creativity. Some find spiritual meaning:
Whatever the reason, loom knitting is becoming more popular. Even Minecraft added a loom:
Now, while you are looming, you may find you run in to some trouble. I just read some tutorials and, folks, no worries! You can use something called a “lifeline”. Well, knowing the game Apex, I know just where to get her. I just didn’t know she’s into looming. Who knew?
Has anyone else had looming adventures? Got any other fun hobbies?
Lol...I can say most recently I have had a looming adventure....through text
I guess my form of looming would be graphic design. It's awesome when it all goes great. When it's not going great then it's no longer the chill time I wanted, now it's battle time.
I can recall making pot holders with those red plastic looms when I was a kid a century ago. That was relaxing. I also use to embroider (hadn't done that since last century) and really find sketching relaxing. When my daughter was young we used to color all of the time. I think I'd "color" if I needed to totally block out the world for a bit, but the coloring books would have to be one of those awesome detailed sophisticated sort of challenging coloring books...that is if I needed to "color".
I tried knitting and crocheting. Those were both hard....I even have a book called, Stitch and *****. Nope, that book couldn't get me there either except for the second part of the title. There was a lot of that. My Nana crocheted. I still have all of the items she made for me; 2 ponchos, 2 vests, 3 purses, several afghans, her aprons she actually used and maybe a few other items, all of which are carefully stored in a bin, folded with love. I miss her! Her hobbies were definitely cooking, baking, pickling, and crocheting.
Oh yeah the old potholders LOL. That was fun. I also crocheted. I tried knitting as my grandmother was very creative with anything and she showed me that too. She used to create the patterns for Butterick (I believe that was the name) or maybe it was McCall's.
Coloring is also fun. Loved that midnight blue. Wanted hair that color.
Embroidery is also fun. I just love crafts. Any crafts. I tried making stained glass stuff for a while. Jewelry. Lace. 3d jewel stuff. Paint by number.
I want to try making glass stuff. Etching. And anything else that I find LOL.
I can remember going to JcPenney's with my mom when I was little as she would peruse the McCall's and Butterick pattern books for new patterns of clothes she wanted to make. My mom used to sew a lot of my clothes and her clothes too! I totally forgot about those adventures. I enjoyed looking at the books too, which likely were inspiring to sketch my own dream clothes.
On crocheting, the best I could do was a chain. Stained glass....weren't there some kits you could buy and color and then bake it in the oven for glass? Love lace, though hadn't tried it, would take a lot of patience. Paint by number....yesssss....did that a lot!
Crafts are awesome. A great way to keep little ones busy and adults minds healthy and active!
I leaned how to sew in middle school. It was fun and I made a couple tee shirts and a pillow. I took that class (Home Education) instead of Shop Class as I was afraid I'd cut my finger off. LOL

I hated shop. We had to have both in my school. Made a napkin holder that kept up until my ex broke it about 20 years ago.
Home-Ec was fun. I loved sewing - made a unicorn stuffed animal that I still have. I even wrote a children's book, Homer the Little Unicorn. lol.
Glad you found a craft you like. Have you done any more sewing? If not, maybe you should take it up again.

Making a couple of tee's and a pillow is pretty amazing and ambitious. No shop class for you, me neither....I'd like to keep my finger's too...lol!!
In Texas, we all had to take one semester of HomeEd in HS. I took the cooking class. For my final, I made lunch crepes for my class, filled with ham, a sauce, water chestnuts etc. For the record, I hardly spend anytime in the kitchen. I cook, but I'd rather be doing something else. That sounds like a bumper sticker...lol.

Wow, you did "shop"? I'm sorry your ex broke your napkin holder.
Of course you made a unicorn.....and wrote an inspiring children's book. Now I'll have to look that up. We love unicorn's and Pegasus's too! Alexis is full of unicorns and I have my share of Webkinz unicorns (shshshsh...don't tell)

Homer the Little Unicorn didn't start out as a book about a unicorn though. It started as an idea to write Homer's The Odyssey in a children's level book. Decided that was just toooo ambitious and went with an inspiring unicorn book that teaches that we should accept everyone how they are, and ourselves as well.
I've not seen a Webkinz anything tbh. Maybe another thread for Webkinz sharing is due?
Inspiring children with a positive book that teaches children to be okay with who they are is a great way to share your heart. I can't tell you how many times when I was young, my mom insisted that I be "me" and to be okay with being different. I think I turned out okay with that part of parenting. The other good part, is it made me very intuitive to others feelings and needs and to stick up for those being bullied or mistreated and I've been like that my entire life.
An adorable book:
I preferred the part of it where we got to learn about and cook stuff. Very fun!!
Our next fun hobby is... Mooing!
Mooing, alternatively known as the up-down, or the Manhattan Once Over, is actually a real hobby with a large fanbase. It even has its own competitions in the United States, one of which called the moo-la-palooza held in Wisconsin. This event is a fun day out for the entire family even if you don’t get up and Moo!
The aim of the game for those who choose to participate is to sound as much like a cow as possible (bit rude). Contestants are judged on the realism of their moo and style. There is normally a panel of 4 expert mooing judges who will evaluate your sound and score you accordingly along with a few other criteria.
If you win, you generally get money and a few free gift items for doing so. You don’t quite get thousands for winning but you can get up to one thousand pounds. Contestants can be any age between 5 and 75 to enter. Anyone within that age limit may enter, you don’t need to have any particular skill and you don’t even have to be particularly good at mooing!

Wow, so impressed, lol!! What a fun day with happy people having a great time. Brings back memories of my childhood. My dad was really into mooing like a cow when we went on road trips.
hehehe
Next fun hobby is.... Hobby Horse Racing!
Hobbyhorse has been proposed for inclusion in the Paris 2024 Olympics, the FEI has announced. The mounted sport, which is popular with teens in Finland, joins surfing, climbing, skateboarding and breakdancing as new entries to be put forward to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the 2024 Games.
If you need to get started, you can get gear on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/market/hobby_horse_tack

Neato! I've started hearing more and more about this, seems like it would be fun for kids especially, imaginative and good exercise.
Pretty cute to hobbyhorse. 😁
